A Simple, Personal Website
Posted by David on April 12th, 2006 filed in TutorialsIf you just want a simple site that talks about you, your hobbies, vacations or anything personal that you’d like to share then you need a very basic web host. You don’t need all the fancy bells and whistles for creating others type of functionality.
If this is the case, I’d recommend a web hosting option called MSN Spaces. The entire building process is done through templates and adding your text. You don’t need to know anything about programming. All you do is point and click to select your design, then type your text and add your pictures.
I wouldn’t recommend this option for business sites or sites that want additional features like chat rooms, games, etc. because the functionality is limited. This is best for sites that are just for displaying text and pictures, or some mp3 as background music. Photo sites work very well with MSN Spaces.
The entire process is browser based so there is no software to install. You simply choose the best package for your site and within minutes you start building your pages.
The downside to MSN Spaces is that you are limited to use a web address like http://spaces.msn.com/myname.
There are some other webhost service provider:
Google Pages
Blogger
Most of the blog-type webhosting providers are free now.
